about

This is one of many, many wonderful variants of The Unfortunate Rake, which include The Streets of Laredo and St James's Infirmary Blues. I picked it up many years ago from a copy of Marrowbones, a 1965 English Folk Dance & Song Society anthology of songs collected by George Gardiner and Henry Edward Denison Hammond.
